Team India have had a busy schedule so far playing against the likes of West Indies, South Africa and Bangladesh respectively. Ever since the World Cup 2019 exit, they have perfected the art of winning matches consistently. After their recent success against Bangladesh at home, they are geared up for another home assignment against West Indies where they will play three T20Is and an equal number of ODIs. Ahead of the T20I series, the former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman has suggested a change for India at the top.

Star Sports expert VVS Laxman believes that KL Rahul should open alongside Rohit Sharma for the upcoming T20I series against West Indies. Coming in at No.3, KL Rahul played very well during the T20I series against Bangladesh. After smashing 52 against Bangladesh in the third game of the T20I series, KL Rahul carried his momentum into the Syed Mushtaq Ali by scoring two fifties in six games.

Now, VVS Laman reckons that it will be quite interesting to see how the team management fits the dashing batsman KL Rahul into the team as regular captain Virat Kohli is back in the team after missing the T20I series against Bangladesh. Talking about KL Rahul on Game Plan, VVS Laxman said that Rahul has been doing his job quite well batting at No.3 and he suggested a new opening partner for Rohit Sharma for the West Indies series.

“The big question is that with Virat Kohli back and K.L. Rahul doing a good job batting at number three so then where will he fit? I believe that it is time that K.L. Rahul opens with Rohit Sharma. I would definitely have Rahul open with Rohit for the West Indies Series,” VVS Laxman added.

Rohit’s regular opening partner Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of the West Indies T20Is after picking up an injury in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Sanju Samson has been named as his replacement. However, it is unlikely that India will start with him keeping in mind that KL Rahul was already a part of the actual set-up even with Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli in the XI. The India-West Indies T20I series will kick-start on December 6 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
