The euphoria for India’s maiden pink-ball Test match against Bangladesh set to be played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata knows no bounds. The city has been colored pink and everyone is looking forward to the historic Test match with all the zest. In fact, the newly appointed BCCI president Sourav Ganguly confirmed that the tickets for the first four days have been sold out.

Consequently, this has given a perfect opportunity to the black marketers to make the most of the situation. The Kolkata police come down hard on these people and they have arrested six people who were trying to black-market the tickets. According to IANS, the Kolkata police seized 40 match tickets for the pink-ball Test. The arrests have come after the detective department conducted a drive against black marketing of tickets.

Kolkata Police was quick to respond.

The operation was carried out when a man tagged Kolkata Police on Facebook in a post. He reported that online sellers were asking a higher price than the actual price for the match tickets. Subsequently, Kolkata police were quick to respond and performed their duty.

“This afternoon, an anti-rowdy section team of the detective department, who were maintaining watch around Eden Garden, conducted a drive against black marketing of tickets of the upcoming Test match between India and Bangladesh. During the drive, six persons were arrested for ticket blacking and 40 tickets seized from their possession,” said Murlidhar Sharma, who is police joint commissioner (crime) said in a statement.

On the other hand, the Cricket Association of Bengal did a fine job as they have set a very low price of the tickets for the historic day-night Test. The minimum price of a ticket was INR 100 whereas the maximum price was set at INR 1500.

There has been a lot of talk about the pink-ball Test match and it would be interesting to note how things will pan out. The telecast will begin at 1:00 pm and it would mark the beginning of a new era in Indian cricket.
