Kuldeep Yadav is one of the several Indian cricket players who have keen interest in football. The likes of Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, KL Rahul are known for passionately following the game and Kuldeep is not an exception either. But perhaps the chinaman spinner is a bit more passionate and emotional than his India teammates when it comes to following football.

The youngster has already become a household name in India due to his impressive exploits on the field. He has not looked back since being handed his debut in 2017. Kuldeep was drafted in the team after R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja’s constant struggles in the limited-overs format and he has so far totally justified the faith shown in him. The left-arm spinner was one of India’s most impressive performers last year when he left his mark in South Africa, England, Australia and New Zealand.

He was the highest wicket-taker in South Africa when India won the ODI series 5-1. In England, he picked up five-wicket hauls in both T20Is as well as ODIs. He then helped India win the Asia Cup before picking up a five-wicket haul in the Sydney Test. His performance in New Zealand was equally impressive. So far, the Uttar Pradesh star has picked up 82 wickets in just 41 outings and is looking primed to lead India’s spin attack in the coming years.

But while he continues to make huge strides on the cricket field and has his hands full with games, his commitment to football has not decreased.

He recently gave an example of how passionate he is about the game. Kuldeep has revealed how he found it tough to deal when his favourite player Neymar left Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain. In August 2017, Neymar had moved from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain for a world-record fee of £200m.

“It’s a very difficult question to ask,” Kuldeep Yadav told Sportskeeda.

“Before, when Neymar was in Barcelona, I used to support them. Nowadays, I am supporting both PSG and Barcelona, because Barcelona is my team and Neymar is my player. So yes, I am supporting both. I want Neymar to be back in Barcelona again,” he added.

He then revealed that the transfer has made his cry for two days, revealing:

“You must have seen my Instagram post. I was literally crying for two days. I didn’t want him to go to PSG. Barcelona is my team, and I wanted him to stay at the club, and maybe create some more records with Lionel Messi.”

An avid cricket lover, I just love this game more than anything. Writing about cricket keeps me closer to the game.
