Former Sri Lanka legend and a skipper Kumar Sangakkara is of the opinion that India has a very strong team for the 2019 World Cup and will be one of the favourites for the 2019 World Cup. The quadrennial event is slated to be played in 9 months time. Pakistan and Sri Lanka have a lot to resolve before the tournament. Afghanistan was quite brilliant during the tournament and fought really hard during the tournament.

Bangladesh almost managed to seal their first Asia Cup title but failed at the last hurdle as India won by 3 wickets. In the absence of Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal, they performed quite admirably. As for India, it was a great tournament but there remain a few concerns regarding the No 4 slot. If Virat Kohli had to play at No 4 India needs to play someone reliable at No 4.

Kumar Sangakkara feels the team shouldn’t tinker too much with their combination. He feels India has got a pretty settled squad.

“India has got a very settled squad. I don’t think they need to make too many changes going into the 2019 World Cup. They have got the senior core group well in hand. MS Dhoni has been outstanding for them. Virat Kohli is brilliant. Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan has also delivered. So India just need to find that one person for the number 4 position,” he was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.

Kumar Sangakkara is definitely one of the legends to have graced the game of cricket. He was one of the finest batsmen of his time and was also one of the most effective wicket-keepers during his time. Sangakkara is also of the opinion that Hardik Pandya will play a crucial role in the 2019 World Cup for India.

“Hardik Pandya is going to be very crucial for them in the all-rounder role. They have got a brilliant bowling attack as well. So I think India will be high on confidence going into the World Cup.

“I think it is just about settling down and not making too many changes because sometimes it affects the players. Unknowingly it affects the players’ confidence. So just pick the best ones and settle down on a side,” he concluded.
