Kumar Sangakkara Urges International Teams To Tour Pakistan

Former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara has appealed that teams and cricketers should now come to Pakistan, to play good quality cricket. Marred by terrorism, Pakistan had to play all their home games in the UAE for a long time.

International cricket now seems to return to the nation as recently Sri Lanka and Bangladesh national cricket teams marked a safe return while enjoying cricket at their level best.

Also, the Sangakkara-led MCC squad played four limited-overs matches against different teams during their visit from February 12 to 19.

The former Lanka skipper said that it is always special to revisit the matches he has played in Pakistan and the MCC team was very surprised and moved by the welcome they received in the country.

“We have had a wonderful tour here, making sure that the message has been conveyed across the world of cricket through personal communication with the people, official statements and interviews,” he said.

The veteran cricketer also asked the players to talk about the exceptional tour they had in Pakistan so that a negative shade on the country can be removed.

“And as you know the players are also going back [to their respective countries] they must be talking about their wonderful and safe stay here and it is all part to bring back international cricket to Pakistan,” the legendary Lankan batsman added.

The Sangakkara-led MCC squad won the T20 matches against PSL franchises Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans while lost the games against Pakistan Shaheens (50-over match) and Northern, Pakistan’s domestic T20 champions.
