Aaron Finch had an extremely brilliant year in the latter half of 2017 followed by the first half of 2018. But, unfortunately, it wasn’t the same for him in the next 6 months. He was asked to represent the team in Test format of the game and then given captaincy reigns in the shorter version of the game.

Perhaps, the work pressure certainly caught him up, which resulted in the poor show with the bat for his nation. He failed to show his class against Indian National Cricket Team across the formats and even lost his place in the Test setup as well.

It was a bit of mental challenge – Aaron Finch

Admitting the same, Aaron Finch quoted that he has been challenged mentally in the last 6 months. Further, he went on to add saying that playing in all formats of the game has made an impact on him, which resulted in the poor show. Finch also understood that adjusting to three formats is a great ability, which needs tough players.

“Probably the last six months have been the most difficult of my career in terms of chopping and changing formats, making my Test debut and playing a bit more Test cricket was probably a bit of a mental challenge more than anything,” the 32-year-old told Sporting News.

The Australian skipper quoted that he has been a bit tentative in his approach in the last few games. Further, he wants to make a note of his mistakes and inspire from his past records of him to come well ahead of the ICC World Cup 2019.

”To play in Dubai and come straight back into an ODI and T20 series and Test matches and things like that, it’s probably been the longest sustained period that I’ve played cricket for Australia,” he added.

I didn’t give the credits to the boys:

Aaron Finch also quoted that he never used to give the required credit to the players, who play all the formats of the game. However, now, he understood the real essence of it after being in their shoes for a good 6 months of time.

“In terms of that, it was quite mentally challenging and something that I probably didn’t give the guys who played all three formats of the game enough credit in. You see them come off a Test series into a one-day game and you think, ‘gee, they’re a bit flat’ and you don’t know why they’re playing cricket for Australia. It’s not until you’ve been in that position yourself that every now and then, you need five minutes to yourself at times and to just get away,” Finch inferred.

Well, he would be eyeing to get his form back against Indians in the upcoming series, which is to be played in India. Later, he will lock horns against Pakistan side in the 5-match ODI series.
