Latest Picture Of MS Dhoni Shows He Played With Injured Thumb
India bowed out of the ICC World Cup 2019 losing to New Zealand by 18 runs in the first semifinal at the Old Trafford in Manchester. MS Dhoni was once again at the centre of all the criticism as he failed to take his side over the rope at the Old Trafford. But the latest pictures reveal that the former India skipper played with an injured thumb against the Kiwis.
Dhoni received a lot of flak for his slow batting
MS Dhoni has struggled to get going in the death overs leading to the former cricketers questioning his intent. MS Dhoni struggled in three consecutive games – Afghanistan, England, and Bangladesh which has raised doubt over his future. He scored at a strike rate of 93.39 in this World Cup but has eaten up a lot of balls which have put the other batsmen under pressure. Dhoni hit a valiant fifty and stitched a 106-run stand with Ravindra Jadeja, but it was not enough for India to progress through to the finals of the World Cup.
Soon after India’s ouster, rumours were going round that MS Dhoni might announce his retirement. However, there is no intimation regarding the same and India skipper Virat Kohli also said that Dhoni has not informed anything about his retirement to them. Amidst all the harsh criticism, the latest pictures reveal that veteran wicket-keeper batsman played with an injured finger. Dhoni shook his hand in the pain while batting in the semifinal against New Zealand.
MS Dhoni suffered blows on his thumb twice in the game against England where India lost, first while wicket-keeping and then again while batting. He continued to play with the significant pain on his finger but couldn’t lead India to another victory as their campaign ended one step ahead of the final.
