It has been quite a journey for MSK Prasad as the chief selector of the Indian National Cricket Team. The former cricketer was successful in forming a good team with Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri being the head of the department. However, the upcoming October is the last month of his contract with BCCI. Meanwhile, Laxman Sivaramakrishnan is in line to become the chief of the selection panel.

It is reported that former Indian spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan of the Indian team can be made the chairman of the selector’s committee of the Indian cricket team, who is a strong contender and leading the race. According to an Indian Express, the BCCI has spoken to several former players for this post.

Lakshman Sivaramakrishnan might end his deals with the broadcaster:

Lakshman Sivaramakrishnan, who played 9 Test matches and 16 ODIs for the Indian team between 1983 and 1987, is a strong candidate as the chief selector of the Indian team. MSK Prasad‘s term ends on 23 October at the time of AGM. Following this, Laxman Sivaramakrishnan could get the position of chief selector of the Indian team.

With many already turning their back on the job, BCCI is understood to be reviewing the salary package that is being offered to selectors across all age-groups. There are talks of increasing the remunerations for the chairman of the senior national selection panel to Rs 1.5 crore, with the other four sets to be offered Rs 1.2 crore.

Other than Sivaramakrishnan, BCCI is looking for only one more selector. Sarandeep Singh, Jatin Paranjpe and Devang Gandhi are set to continue in their roles for another year. Their term ends in 2020. Apart from Prasad, Gagan Khoda’s term also ends this year.
