Liam Livingstone Ruled Out of Test Series in New Zealand

English batsman Liam Livingstone has been ruled out of England’s two-Test tour of New Zealand. The series will start next month. However, Livingstone will miss the series after sustaining an injury on his left ankle during his duty with the Lions. The skipper of the Lancashire county team, Livingstone injured himself during a training session ahead of Lion’s four day game against West Indies A at Antigua on Monday. However, the game has been ruled out for now.

Livingstone is yet to appear for England in the longest format of the game. He is just 24 years old and is expected to return home for treatment. The two-Test series will kick off from March 22 in Auckland followed by the 2nd Test in Christchurch from 30th March.

The statement of the ECB

A statement on England and the Wales Cricket Board’s website read:

“At this stage, the injury is not thought to be serious, and a decision on his fitness to tour New Zealand with England will be made in due course.”

The uncapped player in the longest format, Livingstone averages 45.90 in 33 first class encounters. He has scored six hundreds along with 10 fifties in 55 innings. He also boasts of a top score of 224. He has appeared in national colors in a couple of T20I’s. Both the matches were against the Proteas. Livingstone made 16 in the opening encounter while failed to bother the scorers in the next.
