New Zealand’s pace bowler, Lockie Ferguson has opened up after testing negative for coronavirus. Ferguson had complained of a sore throat after the first ODI of the Australia-New Zealand Chappell-Hadlee series.

The Kiwi pacer is now back and is aiming for an international comeback as soon as possible. Ferguson had been put under isolation after complaining of a sore throat at the end of the 1st ODI against Australia at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Friday.

“I think everyone in every industry is probably feeling it a little bit. Not just us in sport. Certainly we want to play cricket but under these circumstances, we are following the directions of people in much higher power than me,” ESPNcricinfo quoted Ferguson as saying.

“Yeah just taking it in my stride but looking forward to playing cricket soon. So I’ll get back with the Aces boys tomorrow and see what the plan is going forward,” he added.

“I just sort of had very, very mild cold symptoms and the procedures were as they were and followed by Tommy [Simsek, physio] and the support staff,” he added.

Having played the first game of the ODI series behind closed doors, the series was completely suspended on Saturday.

The other two matches in the series were supposed to be the same. But the Kiwi government changed the circumstances. The rule would take effect from midnight on Sunday.
