Perhaps, there would be hardly a game where none of the Indian players bagging a record. The latest to take a record-smashing stat in his account is Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who played 14 years of cricket for India and still counting. He surpassed Mohammad Azharuddin in the record for most number of matches for India in ODI format.

Mohammad Azharuddin appeared for India in 334 ODI games while MS Dhoni overhauled him by featuring in the fifth ODI against New Zealand at Westpac Stadium, Wellington. Now, he is on the course to surpass Rahul Dravid, who got 340 games under his belt.

Sachin Tendulkar tops the list:

It is certain that Mahendra Singh Dhoni would beat Rahul Dravid in the next few games but most probably, it would be his last achievement in that list, as Sachin Tendulkar sits pretty much at the top with 463 ODI games in his kitty.

Well, if everything goes right, MS Dhoni will leapfrog the record of Rahul Dravid in the first game of the ICC World Cup 2019. The above-mentioned can happen only if he features for India in all the five ODI games against Australia at home and also in the first game of ICC World Cup 2019.

MS Dhoni found his form back:

Coming to his form, it was a pretty poor last 1 and half year for MS Dhoni in International cricket. He failed to deliver the goods for the team but made a remarkable return to the field with a stunning performance in India’s ODI series against Australia.

He collected the man of the series award for his fine show in the series. It was the series, he got three fifties on a trot and lost his wicket only once, which was also an umpiring error. He carried the same performance in New Zealand but a sudden hamstring problem saw him missing two ODI games.

All in all, he is going to be a massive man for India going into the ICC World Cup 2019. His experience is something, which is pretty important for the Indian National Cricket Team in the pressure-filled tournament.
