The Indian cricket board announced squads for the limited-overs and Test series squads for tour Down Under on Monday. There were many highlights in the squad as the Sunil Joshi-led selection panel made their intentions quite clear. Among them the non-selection of spinner Axar Patel and top-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav made the highlights.

Axar Patel, currently plying his trade for Delhi Capitals in IPL, has made his presence felt on the weary wicket in UAE with the ball and bat. Top-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav’s exclusion also came as a major shock to many in the cricketing folklore as he has been quite consistent in IPL and Ranji trophy.

Earlier when Mumbai Indians played against Kolkata Knight Riders, Yadav played a match-winning knock. KKR toiled hard but failed to get among wickets as Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma took them to the cleaners. Stepping in to bat at No.3, Yadav hit quick-fire 47 runs off 28 deliveries, laced with six boundaries and one hit over the fence to help his side reach a total of 195/5.
