Marcus Stoinis is a man reborn, who has taken the Big Bash League (BBL) by storm this season. The Australian all-rounder has scored 607 runs for his team Melbourne Stars (MS) as an opener. He has scored five half-centuries so far, while his most prolific knock came against Sydney Sixers, unbeaten 147-run innings.

After impressing one and all with his brilliant display of batting, Stoinis has been mooted to return to the international setup. As talk builds for a recall to the Australian team, the 30-year-old has instead opted to keep his head calm at the moment.

Speaking to reporters at the MCG Stoinis insisted that he wants to focus on his game for the moment, paying little heed to talk about an Australia recall.

He said, “You’ve got to be careful with what you feel you deserve, and I think I’ve probably been guilty of having expectations that you think other people should reward you for certain things.”

Stoinis further added, “I’m very aware, I’m just enjoying what I’m doing. I understand the national selectors wanted me to go back to domestic cricket or Big Bash cricket and dominate. So hopefully I’ve sent that message.”

The former Royal Challengers Bangalore player will turn out for Delhi Capitals this year in the IPL, and judging by his current BBL form, DC would be very happy to have picked Stoinis.

Stoinis and Chris Morris exchanged places in the RCB and DC squad earlier this year, although it feels DC has pulled off a major coup.

However, by the time IPL 2020 comes, it will become clear who among these two teams got the better deal.
