Former England opener, Marcus Trescothick is looking for an extension in his contract from a part-time batting coach to a full-time role. Trescothick is currently in South-Africa with the England team as an interim batting coach.

According to a report in Dailymail.co.uk, the England Cricket Board (ECB) is looking for experts for the full-time role of a batting coach and a wicket-keeping coach. They have appointed temporary batting coaches since the departure of Mark Ramprakash last year. Jonathan Trott and Ian Bell are also reported to be in line for the same. Marcus Trescothick took early retirement due to mental health concerns

Marcus Trescothick took retirement from international cricket in 2008. He suffered from a stress-related illness and played his last Test match against Pakistan in 2006. The left-hander opted out from the tour of India, the Champions Trophy, and skipped the Test series after reaching Australia.

In his 76 Test match illustrious career, Trescothick scored 5825 runs at an average of 43 with 14 tons. He accumulated another 4335 runs in ODIs with 12 hundreds. The southpaw continued to play for Somerset, till he announced his retirement last year.

At the time of retiring in 2008, he said that travelling abroad was turning out to be a major issue. However, the 44-year-old now is ready to face the challenge, as being a full-time coach means he will frequently travel with the team.
