Perhaps, Bangladesh would never get a skipper like Mashrafe Mortaza. He would easily sit in the top grade list of skippers, as far as the commitment towards the team is concerned. Mortaza always led the team from the front by igniting a fire in the youngsters with his astute captaincy. Meanwhile, he speaks on his retirement plans.

Mortaza led Bangladesh to final in the last couple of Asia Cup editions and did considerably well in ICC Champions Trophy 2017 as well.  And also, Mortaza led the team to knock-out stage in ICC World Cup 2015, who entered the tournament as minnows.

Mashrafe Mortaza revealed that he would always set the targets for himself in continuing his career. Mortaza quoted that he thought Champions Trophy would be his last but the fine performances and the captaincy has backed him to go for one more shot.

“My aim is to play until the World Cup. It is a matter of eight months and I will try to continue the way I am continuing. My personal goal was to play the World Cup and whether [a] review, will be required only time can say. 50% of the people believed that my career is over after the 2011 World Cup but by the grace of Allah, I carried it further for another seven years. All my family members were apprehensive whether I can carry it or not. Now my career is coming to an end. “

“Firstly my mind was set to play until the World Cup. During the Champions Trophy, I felt I don’t know whether I can continue after the tournament. Still, I moved forward as my fitness and performance were backing me. So I am saying my mind is set-up to play until the World Cup and though there is a chance to have a review, if I am not in that stage I will have to quit.”

Well, it would be a great loss for Bangladesh if Mashrafe Mortaza quits the game of cricket. However, all the good things need to come to an end on one day so does Mashrafe Mortaza’s career.
