Match Report: Colin de Grandhomme Helps New Zealand Go 2-1 Up Facing England

Yet again, it was New Zealand Cricket Team, who came out on top in the ongoing 5-match T20I series against England. The heroics of Colin de Grandhomme with the bat and the collective bowling effort helped New Zealand go 2-1 up in the series scoreline. Meanwhile, it is the second straight loss for England after winning the first T20I game comfortably.

Earlier, in the day, it was New Zealand, who won the toss, elected to bat first. Yet again Colin Munro was dismissed for a cheap score while Martin Guptill scored 33 off 17 balls, which include 7 boundaries. Tim Seifert once again wasted his opportunity to bat up the order in absence of Kane Williamson.

However, Colin de Grandhomme yet again proved his mettle with the bat. Using the opportunity to bat at number 4, he went for the kill against England fast bowlers. He played at 157 strike rate scoring 55 runs off 35 balls. It includes 5 boundaries and 3 sixes as well.

Meanwhile, Ross Taylor once again scored at a low strike rate despite getting the platform to make it big. He scored 27 runs off 24 balls with a couple of sixes and one boundary. However, Mitchell Santner and James Neesham gave the perfect finish to help New Zealand have 180 on the board.

Tom Curran is the pick of the bowlers with a couple of wickets while the rest of the bowlers bagged one each apart from Lewis Gregory. It was once again a game to forget for Saqib, who gave away 49 runs in his 4 overs.

Chasing the tally, Tom Banton started innings off in a flash with a six and a couple of boundaries while Dawid Malan scored 55 off 34 balls. James Vince also came good with a decent 49 but the strike rate was an issue while chasing such a tally.

Then came the sudden fall with 4 wickets being lost in the matter of 10 runs. Though Tom Curran scored 14 runs off 10 balls with a six, it was already in the kitty of New Zealand to go 2-1 up in the series. For Kiwis, Ferguson and Tickner bagged a couple of wickets while Sodhi and Santner bagged one wicket each.
