Australian Test opener, Matt Renshaw is hopeful to recover from a broken finger ahead of Australia A’s tour to India commencing from next month.

Meanwhile, promising youngster Renshaw had his surgery last week, a fortnight after he broke it. The incident took place during a catching drill for Somerset in the English county cricket.

The southpaw will feature in both the one-day and four-day segments of Australia A tour, which runs from August 17 to September 14.

Furthermore, this will be a perfect preparation ahead of Australia’s Test campaign in the United Arab Emirates in October.

However, Renshaw, unable to pick his bat again is racing the clock to make it for the start of the Indian tour.

I’ve got surgery … so probably about 6-8 weeks after that,” he told the Brisbane Heat podcast.

I’ll hopefully get back just in time for the Aus A series, but we’ll have to work on that quite a bit,” he added.

A 6-8 week recovery period has put Renshaw’s participation in the one-day tri-series in India in jeopardy. But more importantly, he should be fit for the two first-class games against India A ahead of the UAE-bound Test fixtures.

Missing out on the Ashes tour, Renshaw re-emerged as Australia’s key batsman after the suspension of David Warner.

The 22-year-old Matt Renshaw earned a Test recall following the ball-tampering scandal. He also scored 513 runs in 11 Championship innings for Somerset. To subsequently register a strong return to first-class cricket in England.

Meanwhile, Justin Langer has already revealed that India A tour will play a role in the team selection.

It’s a great opportunity, particularly for our young batsmen, or any batsman in Australia,” Langer said.

I’ll certainly be watching it closely. Because we have to start building the top six in the Test team,” he added.
