Mayank Agarwal Plays Fearlessly Just Like Virender Sehwag - VVS Laxman

It was a sensational game for Mayank Agarwal against South Africa at Visakhapatnam. Playing in his first game in India, Agarwal showed no signs of fear, as he went on to smash a double century for India. Meanwhile, VVS Laxman likens Mayank Agarwal to his idol Virender Sehwag, who plays the same brand of cricket across the formats.

In the first Test against South Africa which India won by 203 runs at the ACA-VDCA Stadium, Agarwal scored a brilliant double hundred and helped India post a monstrous first-inning total of 502/7 declared.

The flamboyant batsman made most of the opportunity in Test cricket. He kept on bagging the crucial runs for his side with his amazing strokeplay. During the course, the youngster achieved quite a few records to his name. In particular, he became the fourth Indian cricketer to convert his maiden Test century into a double hundred.

Mayank Agarwal is a solid batsman – VVS Laxman

The right-handed opening batsman, who replaced Prithvi Shaw scored fifty right in his first game that too in historic venue. He dominated things with his class and received accolades from the cricket fanatics across the world.  Speaking of the same, VVS Laxman quoted that Mayank Agarwal approaches home games just like the way he approaches the domestic game.

“He (Agarwal) is a solid batsman and has approached this game like a domestic cricket match. Players usually change the way they play in domestic and international cricket. But he managed to maintain his style in both forms of cricket,” Laxman said on Star Sports’ Cricket Live programme.

“His mental toughness and stability are his strength. And also, he plays fearlessly just like his favourite, Virender Sehwag,” he added.

Well, as VVS Laxman said, Mayank Agarwal has got all the attributes to make things fall in place. For now, he already bagged quite a few records and would like to bag a few more in the upcoming couple of Test matches against South Africa.
