It seems like Mayank Agarwal is looking to answer all his critics with a good knock in the upcoming two-match Test series against New Zealand. Following a disaster with the bat in the ODI series, Agarwal comes up with a unique practice session at Seddon Park in Hamilton to get his drives right.

In the video posted by ESPN Cricinfo, Agarwal was seen practising with the batting coach Vikram Rathour.

The coach was seen throwing with under-arm without any bounce or speed to the ball, to which, Agarwal was seen driving the balls down the ground.

On Friday, Agarwal batted mostly on the back-foot and defending away from the body. Scott Kuggeleijn, then, bowled one back of a length on fifth stump and Agarwal could only manage an edge to it. His dismissal pushed India into troubled waters but the resilient knock from Cheteshwar Pujara and Hanuma Vihari helped India to stage a comeback in the three-day practice game.

The last couple of years have been sensational for Agarwal in international cricket.

In fact, Agarwal’s turning point of life came in the year 2017 as he scored his maiden triple hundred for Karnataka against Maharasthra in November 2017 and that brought him under the radar of the selectors.

Opportunity knocked him when Prithvi Shaw was ruled out due to an injury for the Australian tour. He made his Test debut against Australia in the Boxing Day Test at the MCG.

It was a remarkable moment for him as his innings of 76 became the highest score by an Indian cricketer on debut in Australia.

His true dominance came in the home season in 2019 when he registered a series of blistering performances against South Africa and Bangladesh. Mayank Agarwal showed his class with the bat and also impressed selectors to get the nod for the ODI series against New Zealand in absence of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan.

Though he made his debut, Mayank Agarwal couldn’t make the most of the opportunity.
