Cricket can be a funny sport at times. Numerous bizarre incidents keep taking place time and again on the field of cricket. This time another such incident has taken place in women’s cricket. Australia’s women’s team star Meg Lanning was saved from a run-out in a bizarre fashion during the final of T20I tri-series against India on Wednesday.

What happened with Lanning was rather unbelievable. On numerous occasions, there have been a lot of cases in cricket where the ball hits the stumps but the bails remain intact.

Well, luck favoured Lanning in this incident which eventually proved to be fruitful for the Kangaroos. Lanning made an important contribution with the bat on scoring 26 runs off 19 balls.

Meg Lanning Gets Saved In A Never Seen Before Manner:

Lanning survived to get run-out with a bizarre stroke of luck in the tri-series final against India.

The throw from Shikha Pandey hit the stump mic cable box behind the stumps and changed its direction. Not only did the ball just miss the stumps but it resulted in an overthrow which saw the Aussies batter taking an extra run.

Although the throw was a stroke of luck, fans and spectators have questioned Lanning’s sportsmanship as she decided to take a second run after the overthrow.

“That’s hit that box and they’re sneaking an extra run. That’s cheeky from Meg Lanning.” Australian cricketer Elyse Villani said while doing commentary.

“That is where the spirit of cricket comes in as well because you know that when someone has a shot at the stumps and it hits any part of the batter, the batter generally doesn’t run again. There’s always a scenario… if you need another one to win in a World Cup final do you (run to) win? “Technically you can but with the spirit of cricket you generally don’t,” she said.

Australia women beat India women in the final of the tri-series by 11 runs.

Batting first, the Aussies set up a target of 156 runs in their 20 overs. Beth Mooney scored a great half-century and won the Man of the Match award for her performance.
