Michael Bevan Likely to be Bangladesh's Batting Coach

Former Australian cricketer, Michael Bevan is all set to join the Bangladesh cricket team, as the batting coach.

Notably, after the departure of head coach Chandika Hathurusingha, Bangladesh is still now in search of a high profile coach.

Bangladesh played the tri-nation series involving Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka without a coach. They are still coachless in the ongoing Test series against Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka has piled on 504 for three in reply to Bangladesh’s 513 at the end of day three.

Along with the head coach, they are also in search of a batting coach and some sources claiming they have finally found one. Michael Bevan is set to become the next batting coach.

According to reports, he will take the job before the Nidahas trophy. It will be a tri-nation series in Sri Lanka involving India as well.

However, this will not be Bevan’s first visit in Bangladesh as a coach. Earlier, he had worked for Chittagong Vikings as a batting coach in 2012’s Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

The southpaw took up coaching in 2011, although he retired from international cricket in 2004. Though Bevan had an ordinary career in the longer format of the game, he was impressive in the ODI format.

He played 232 ODIs scoring 6,912 runs an average of 53.58. He was a match-winner for Australia in ODI format and known for finishing games.
