Australia’s 2015 World Cup winning captain Michael Clarke has backed David Warner and Steven Smith’s return to the squad as soon as possible. Smith and Warner’s ban of one year will get over on March 29. Subsequently, they would be available for selection for the national side during the ODI series against Pakistan in UAE.

Meanwhile, Australia has touched new lows in the recent past. They haven’t at their best in the ODI fold and the Australian side will like to turn the tables in the upcoming World Cup 2019.

Australia needs Smith and Warner.

On the other hand, there is no doubt Steven Smith and David Warner are Australia’s best batsman in all the three formats. Thus, their return to the Australian side will add confidence to the whole unit

Meanwhile, Michael Clarke said it would be interesting to note the relationship between the Cameron Bancroft, Steven Smith and David Warner when they will play in the same team.

“It’s going to be really interesting to see how the three of them go when they are back in the same team together,” Clarke told Fox Sports News. “How is the relationship between Warner and Smith or Bancroft and Warner?

“But for Australian cricket there’s absolutely no doubt we need them back. They deserve to come back because they’ve done their crime, they’ve suffered their time.”

Clarke believes Smith and Warner would be able to hit the ground running as soon as they come back in the Australian side.

Collected team performance needed.

“They’ll score runs, there is no doubt about (it). They’ll walk back into that team and perform straight away.”

Meanwhile, Michael Clarke said that it is a team sport and all the other players will need to chip in their contribution for the team. Australia will like to be at the top of their game in the World Cup.

“We’re putting a lot of expectations and a lot of pressure on Steve Smith and David Warner to come back (and) all of our problems will be fixed when they come back. The reality is we have got to No.5 in the world with Smith and Warner in the team. Sports teams are a lot bigger than one or two players.”

Steven Smith and David Warner will hold the key for the Australian side. However, their elbow injury can hamper their return. Smith and Warner have all the experience under their belt their belt and they would like to make a solid return to the national side.
