World cricket body International Cricket Council (ICC) has rated the Mirpur pitch which hosted the second Test between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka as ‘below average.’

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by 215 runs within three days. Roshen Silva top-scored with an unbeaten 70. Also, 40 wickets fell within a total of 681 runs registered by two teams.

Earlier, ICC reprimanded the Chittagong pitch for being below average. Runs flowed easily in that match, with batsmen notching five centuries and six half-centuries in total.

David Boon’s match report:

Boon reported that the pitch didn’t offer a fair contest and resulted in uneven bounce.

“From day one, there was evidence of the ball breaking the pitch surface, which resulted in uneven bounce throughout the match, along with inconsistent turn, which was even excessive at times. This pitch produced a contest that was too heavily skewed in favor of the bowlers. Also, it didn’t give the batsmen a fair chance to display their skills,” ICC Match Referee David Boon maintained.

Meanwhile, the report was forwarded to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Also, the single demerit point will stay for the next period of 12 months. If the pitch accumulates five demerit points, then the stadium will receive a 12-month suspension according to the fresh rule.
