Recently, we came across reports quoting that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is keen on appointing former captain Misbah-ul-Haq as head coach-cum-chief selector of the national team. Misbah, who is supervising a pre-season conditioning camp in Lahore, however, banished all those reports.

The former skipper of Pakistan Misbah-Ul-Haq quoted that he didn’t apply for the role of head coach for the Pakistan Cricket Team. He further revealed that he would be focussing only on the camp, which is currently in the progress.

I am paying attention to contracted players – Misbah-ul-Haq

Misbah-ul-Haq wants his players to be fit and raring to go when a certain series gets started. He will be looked after the central contract players, who is going to play a key role for Pakistan in the upcoming bilateral series.

Misbah-Ul-Haq spoke to the media after the second day of training at the National Cricket Academy. He said, “My complete attention is towards the camp. I am paying special attention to the centrally contracted players. My aim is to get the players to have better fitness, And also, to pick the best players.”

Need of the team will also be kept in view:

Expressing of the team composition and the skipper, Misbah-Ul-Haq quoted that the final call will be with the PCB Officials regarding the captaincy. Further, he added that the players will be considered in the squad as per the need of the team and the conditions, where the game is going to be played.

”The Pakistan Cricket Board has the final say about the captain. Players will be picked on the basis of their performance in the domestic matches. However, fitness will not be the only criteria. The need of the team will also be kept in view,” he added.

PCB has ended its association with Arthur. And also, with the bowling coach Azhar Mahmood, batting coach Grant Flower and trainer Grant Ludden. Meanwhile, Misbah, 45, represented Pakistan in 75 Tests and 162 ODIs. And also, he is recognised widely for steering the team forward after assuming captaincy following the spot-fixing scandal in 2010.
