Arguably the best Pakistan fast bowler at the moment, Mohammad Amir has been widely regarded as one of the best in the business in the modern times.

Indian skipper and arguably the greatest modern day batsmen Virat Kohli had hailed him as the most difficult bowler he has faced in his career, so far. However, on occasions, Amir has been unlucky when it comes to taking wickets in the recent past.

Former Pakistan skipper and one of Pakistan’s finest all-rounders, Shahid Afridi expressed these views during an interactive session with PakPassion.Net.

“Any bowler will feel more confident when he is taking wickets, but he has been unlucky as quite a few catches have been dropped off his bowling,”

However, Afridi hailed the bowler for making a return to the international cricket with his hard work and passion and said it was an achievement in itself. Amir was banned from playing cricket for five years due to his involvement in the infamous spot-fixing scandal in Lord’s 2010. He backed Amir to keep improving with each passing day.

“As a captain, I supported him in as much as I could but the fact is that the weight of expectations on his shoulder remains very high to this day… Regardless of all these factors, this is the same Amir we had before except that now he is more mature as a person as well as a bowler. His performance in this year’s county season was excellent, and I am sure he is improving,” Afridi said.

Amir was instrumental in Pakistan’s Champions Trophy triumph in June. He was at his lethal best and was the star performer for the Green Brigade in the final of the tournament against arch-rivals India. Courtesy a brilliant century by Fakhar Zaman, Pakistan posted a mammoth 339 on the board, but with the depth, India had in the batting order, it was a chasable target, but Amir’s initial burst left India reeling, and there was no way back for them.
