Mohammad Kaif will not play the upcoming Zonal T20 league, as he has not been named in the Chhattisgarh squad. Kaif, who has now turned into a commentator and coach, played a few Ranji Trophy games in the season before he decided not to play.

The upcoming T20 tournament is a platform for youngsters to attract IPL bid. Hence, Kaif decided not to play, as it looks. Kaif was the coach of Gujarat Lions in the previous season, and this season too, he might look for the same role in IPL.

He is yet to announce his retirement, but he might not play for the team from next season. Reports had suggested that he was in contention to become the coach of Afghanistan but the team appointed Phil Simmons as a coach instead. Chhattisgarh play it’s first match against Vidarbha on January 8.

Squad: Vishal Kushwah, Amandeep Khare, Sahil Gupta, Abhimanyu Chauhan, Pankaj Kumar Rao, Ashutosh Singh, Shashank Chandraker, Ajay Jadav Mandal, Manoj Singh, Nitish Rao, Sumit Ruikar, Jatin Saxena, Shahnawaz Hussain, Shakeeb Ahmed, Shivendra Singh.

Jaydev Unadkat and Robin Uthappa will turn up for Saurashtra in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Zonal League. They will be star attractions from the team which includes key players like Jaydev Shah, Sheldon Jackson, Arpit Vasavada, to name a few.

Riding on his IPL performance, Unadkat also made a comeback to international cricket, which will go in his favour on the auction day.
