Mohammad Nabi To Retire From Test Cricket After Bangladesh Test

Yet another brilliant cricketer set to move away from Test Cricket. The all-rounder from Afghanistan Mohammad Nabi is going to retire from longer version of the game following the ongoing Test against Bangladesh. In the first innings of the Test, Nabi registered a 3-ball duck to his name.

Mohammad Nabi will retire – Nazim

The Afghanistan team manager confirmed the news to Cricbuzz following the conclusion of Day 1 play in the ongoing Test match. However, the real reason behind the retirement is yet to be known. Meanwhile, as per the lines on Cricbuzz, it is learnt that Nabi wants to prolong his career in white-ball cricket.

”Yes, he [Nabi] will retire after the ongoing Test match,” Nazim Jar Abdurrahimzai said to cricbuzz without delving into the specifics of the all-rounder’s retirement.

Well, it has become a trend for all the latest cricketers to call it quits from Test cricket after turning 30-year old. All those players want to prolong their stay in the limited-overs format of the game. Recently, Pakistan players Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Hafeez retired from Test cricket.

Digging into Day 1 play,  Batsman Rahmat Shah on Thursday became the first Afghanistan cricketer to score a Test century, helping the minnows start strongly against Bangladesh on the opening day of the one-off match.

Shah made 102 and put on a crucial 120-run fourth-wicket stand with Asghar Afghan, batting on 88, to counter the Bangladesh spin attack at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. Afghanistan were 271 for five at stumps with Afghan and Afsar Zazai, on 35, putting together a 74-run partnership in the final session of play.

Bangladesh fielded an all-spin attack without picking a single pace bowler while Afghanistan handed a Test debut to Ibrahim, Qais Ahmed and Zahir Khan. Earlier, Afghanistan skipper Rashid became the youngest ever Test captain at the age of 20 years 350 days
