Hafeez was reported for his action after the third ODI against Sri Lanka which was played on 18th October in Abu Dhabi and was not allowed to bowl in the next two ODI’s. He then underwent an independent assessment at Loughborough University in November 1st, the result of which came out that his action is illegal and he has been suspended from bowling.

According to clause 4.5 of the Regulations, Hafeez can reapply for an assessment once he remodels his bowling action.

It is not the first time Hafeez has been suspended from bowling. He was reported for a suspect action in 2014, and his action was found illegal then as well and was suspended to bowl for 12 months. He then came back in 2015 with a remodelled action but was reported again after a couple of months and was banned again for 12 more months.

Hafeez has 230 international wickets to his name in all three formats. His bowling skills have been handy to the Pakistani team, and his contributions have been significant to the team with both bat as well as the ball.
