The Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) bowling attack largely depends upon Mohammed Shami. The premier India fast bowler after a few months of gap due to the Covid-19 outbreak had returned to training at him hometown early in anticipation of the cricket season resuming. And his constant hard work showed immediate effect in the inaugural match for KXIP.
Shami bowled in a disciplined manner to return figures of 3/15. He was not just among wickets in the match against Delhi Capitals but also picked up a three-wicket haul. Sunil Gavaskar, a member of the IPL 2020 commentary panel, was in all praise for Shami and said that he has the best bouncer in the world.
“He (Shami) probably has the best bouncer in world cricket, it skids on to to you,” Gavaskar said during commentary of the DC vs KXIP IPL 2020 match no.2 in Dubai.
The training session for Shami after a break due to the novel coronavirus pandemic situation included a normal warm-up. Following the warm-up, Shami undergoes a bowling session at the nets, which he has missed out on since March. It was also widely reported that the fast bowler avoids meeting anyone between 4pm to 8pm due to his training.
The Indian fast bowling unit spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah, which consists of Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav has emerged formidable. Shami among others have improved a lot in the recent past. At present, the Indian pace attack, is arguably the finest in the world.
IPL 2020 will be played entirely in UAE due to the pandemic situation forcing the cricket board to host the tournament away from India. Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah will be the three venues used for the tournament. Dream 11 have been named as the sponsor for the upcoming season of the tournament after VIVO pulled out.
