India pacer Mohammed Siraj has revealed the emotional message from his mother after losing his father Mohammed Ghouse last week. The 26-year old has decided to stay in Australia with Team India despite suffering the big tragedy. Ghouse passed away aged 53 on Friday. He was suffering from a lung ailment.

Ghouse’s health deteriorated while Mohammed Siraj was busy playing in IPL 2020 in the UAE. Ghouse was hospitalised while the tournament was on in the gulf nation. At that time too, Mohammed Siraj had put up a brave face and continued playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Last week, the BCCI revealed that it had offered Mohammed Siraj the option of flying back to India and be with his bereaved family. However, the right-arm pacer decided against it and would continue his preparation for the series Down Under.

Mother’s message for Mohammed Siraj:

At a time when Mohammed Siraj was battling with his emotions after losing his father, he received some words of encouragement from his mother. The pacer revealed that his mother wanted him to stay in Australia and fulfill his father’s dreams of doing well for the country.

Last month, the right-arm pacer earned his maiden Test call-up for the upcoming  four-match series against Australia. Ahead of the series, Mohammed Siraj said his father’s dream was to see him perform well for India and that he is geared up to do well for the visitors.

“My father was my biggest support, it’s a big loss for me. My father’s wish was to see me play for India. My mindset is to fulfill his dream. My father is not here in this world but he is with me all the time,” Siraj told BCCI in a video interview.

“My mom reminded me of my father’s dreams. She asked me to stay there and perform well for India and fulfill my father’s dream,” he added.

He also revealed how his teammates supported him like a family during the tough times.  Siraj said skipper Virat Kohli and the others have been encouraging him to stay strong.

“My teammates have been very supportive, making sure I am not facing any problem here. Virat bhai encouraged me, told me not to take tension and stay strong and focus on fulfilling your dad’s dreams. He told me that staying strong in this situation will help not just me but my family as well,” Siraj said.
