Delhi Capitals have come by leaps and bounds since the last season. The strong Indian core of Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant followed by the leadership group of Shreyas Iyer and coach Ricky Ponting have been instrumental in the resurgence and Mohit Sharma feels that it is a great opportunity for the side to possibly win an IPL trophy in the forthcoming seasons.

“I think it is a huge opportunity for our team. We have a fantastic group of players with a very strong Indian core, and I believe our team has the right players in all departments who can help us in challenging for the trophy. So I feel our fans can expect huge things from the team,” said the 31-year-old.

Mohit Sharma also opened up on his initial reaction when he got to learn that he has been picked up by the Delhi Capitals in the auction.

“I was at the NCA in Bengaluru when the IPL Auctions were taking place. I wasn’t even sure if I would be able to play the IPL this season because of the surgery, and almost all franchises knew I wasn’t that fit. However, it was the Delhi Capitals who picked me up in the second round, and it felt really good very well,” Mohit Sharma added.

Mohit Sharma was one of the key figures for India in their 2015 World Cup campaign. He has previously featured the likes of Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab in the IPL.
