MS Dhoni Gives Us Freedom, Virat Kohli Boosts Our Confidence: Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav has now spend a considerable time playing for Team India. The chinaman spinner made his debut in 2017 and is now an integral part of the team in the limited-overs format. Kuldeep, in fact, is the spin spearhead of the team and thus knows about the team very well. The left-arm spinner has now opened up about the role of MS Dhoni in the team.

Kuldeep, whose comments on Dhoni recently caused a stir, said that Dhoni is the man for any player to end his doubt. Kuldeep also revealed that everyone looks up to the former India skipper for any solution on the cricket field.

“Mahi bhai is a team man. I would say when in doubt, reach out to Dhoni. He has a solution for every problem. Everyone looks up to him (Dhoni),” Kuldeep told Timesofindia.com.

Time and again, one has seen Dhoni giving tips and suggestions to his teammates especially Kuldeep and his spin partner Yuzvendra Chahal. And Kuldeep believes Dhoni’s tips and even stern word have helped him take his cricketing career to a different level.

“When I bowl, I find it difficult to set the field sometimes. I look at Mahi bhai and he understands immediately that I need his help. He comes up to me and helps me. It’s not just me, he helps every bowler in the team,” Kuldeep Yadav said before adding: ” Mahi bhai understands a batsman’s body language quickly and then he tells us the areas where we should bowl to him. And it often works in our favour.”

The left-arm spinner further opened up on what separates Dhoni from captain Virat Kohli, saying: “Kohli and Dhoni are the backbone of our team. Dhoni gives us freedom and Kohli boosts our confidence.”

Kuldeep also said that he is confident of a good show from him and his partner Chahal in the World Cup. Kuldeep had a disastrous IPL where he managed just 4 wickets in 9 matches before being dropped.

“We (Chahal and I) understand and back each other on the field. We have a great bond on and off the field. In ODIs, the middle overs are very crucial, so we try to take as many wickets as possible in the middle overs and control the flow of runs for our team. That’s what Chahal and I have been doing and will continue to do in the World Cup,” Kuldeep said.

Kuldeep and Chahal have become a very important part of the team since making their debuts in 2017 and 2016 respectively.  Kuldeep has 87 wickets under his belt in 44 ODIs, averaging 21.74, while Chahal has played 41 ODIs and claimed 72 wickets at an average of 24.61. The two would be desperate to leave a mark on their first-ever World Cup and live up to the lofty expectations.
