Former Indian captain MS Dhoni is an epitome of calmness on a cricket field. Even in the most tricky and high-pressure situations, the three-time ICC tournament-winning captain never let his emotions get the better of him.

But, that does not mean that Dhoni has never lost his cool on a cricket field. One such incident happened during the 2017 T20I series against Sri Lanka. It was the second Twenty2o International of the three-match series and India, riding on the back of a stupendous 43-ball 118 by opener Rohit Sharma, racked up an imposing total of 5-260 in 20 overs.

The visitors started on a brilliant note with Upul Tharanga [47 off 29 balls] and Kusal Perera’s brutal 37-ball 77 were putting the Indian bowlers, especially chinaman Kuldeep Yadav to the sword.

Yadav, in a recent interview opened up on the incident when he made Dhoni angry after having turned down a fielding change proposed by the former captain. Yadav revealed that Dhoni went up to him and said-

“He came to me and angrily said He said ‘Am I mad? I have played 300 ODIs (main pagal hu, 300 ODI khela samjha rha hu tuje yaha pe). I got very scared at that time and thought what just happened all of a sudden.” Kuldeep Yadav was quoted as saying by India Today.

After the match, Kuldeep asked Dhoni if he gets angry, to which Dhoni said that its been 20 years since he last lost his cool.

“Muje gussa nahi aata hai, gussa aae hue 20 saal ho gae, experience hogya to lagta h ki bolna chahiye, jab koi sunta nahi hai to daanta hu, wo gussa nahi. Gussa abhi beta dekha nahi mera. Gussa aata tha muje Ranji matches me (No I don’t get angry, it’s been 20 years since I last got angry. I think I have gained experience and I should speak now and when people don’t listen I scold them, it’s not anger. You haven’t seen my anger till now. I used to get angry in Ranji Trophy matches,” Dhoni had said, revealed Kuldeep.

Coming back to the game, Dhoni’s proposed field change did wonders as Kuldeep went on to dismiss the dangerous looking Perera before adding two more wickets to his tally as the visitors collapsed from 2-145 to 172 all-out.
