Former India Captain MS Dhoni Might Don Commentator's Hat For India Vs Bangladesh Pink-Ball Test

Former India captain MS Dhoni, who is on a break from the game, might don the commentator’s hat during historic India vs Bangladesh day/night Test match. As per a report in IANS, invites have been sent to former India captains and they will also share their memories on the air. This will be the first time when Dhoni will commentate on a live match.

“Invite India Test captains for Day 1 & 2 of the Test. All captains at the ground along with (Virat) Kohli and the rest of the team as well as the dignitaries line up for the anthem. Captains appear on commentary as guests through the day to recollect their favourite moments from India’s Test history. Down memory lane segments recorded with individual captains are played on the big screen at the ground in breaks Day 4 onwards,” reads the plan for the former India captains, as per IANS.

While it is confirmed that Sourav Ganguly, BCCI’s President, will be at the Eden Gardens, players like VVS Laxman and Harbhajan Singh will definitely be in Kolkata as they commentate on Star Sports. Sachin Tendulkar, who commentates in ICC tournaments, is also likely to attend the historic event while Rahul Dravid might also grace the occasion.

The report also adds the board plans to televise India’s practice session with the pink ball, which will also be a first in Indian cricket.

It will be the first time that India and Bangladesh will play with pink-ball Test. Both the teams, in past, have had denied offers to play with a pink ball.

Sourav Ganguly, who took over as BCCI’s President on October 23, discussed the idea with Indian skipper Virat Kohli and sent an official proposal to Bangladesh, who agreed to it.

While few of the Indian players have played with the pink ball by virtue of playing in Duleep Trophy, there has been only one pink-ball match in Bangladesh. Hence, India will go in as the favourites.

This will just be the second time when Bangladesh will travel to India for a Test series. In 2017, they came to India for a one-off Test, that the hosts won

The two-match Test series between India and Bangladesh kicks off on November 14 in Indore. The second Test will start on November 22.
