Amidst all the speculations over his future, MS Dhoni is still running fast between the wickets and hitting those huge sixes. Meanwhile, the year 2019 began well for the veteran India cricketer. Not only he scored three consecutive fifties during Australia ODIs, but Dhoni also maintained a healthy average in the limited-overs cricket since then. Further, he had played a handy knock for India of late in the Australia T20Is at home. During the second match in Bengaluru, MS scored 40 off 23 balls – hitting three fours and as many sixes.

Has MS Dhoni played his last T20I?

No one knows the answer, not even the closest of Dhoni’s pals. It is all upto the legend to decide when would he call curtains on his T20I cricket to be precise. Though the talks over his future post the 2019 World Cup is doing the rounds; not many look keen to know what future holds for MSD in the T20Is. Since India is not listed to play any twenty-2o cricket on the international calendar until the World Cup, to assume he has done playing the shortest format of the game for India would not be entirely wrong.

As players like Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik and even Ishan Kishan (who is earning his name in the domestic circuit) are waiting in the wings, the selectors could also look beyond MS Dhoni post the Bengaluru T20I. Now if it’s true, even one per cent, we might have watched the last of Dhoni in T20Is. On Wednesday, he played a brilliant inning – scoring 40 runs and more importantly, he let himself free on the pitch, unlike the previous game.

Though in Vizag, he didn’t find any support at the other end, Dhoni had India captain, Virat Kohli accompanying him in Bengaluru. Off his 40 runs, Dhoni had hit three fours and as many sixes – all of which came against D’Arcy Short. Though he got out off Cummins, MSD had entertained the fans at the M Chinnaswamy stadium.
