Rising India batsman Shubman Gill said that he has learnt a lot from former India cricketer MS Dhoni. Gill will be seen in action for KKR in the IPL 2020. He had batted down the order in the previous season but looked more composed as an opener. Gill might continue to bat at the same position in the upcoming season.
Gill had interacted with Dhoni on quite a few occasions and said that the best thing that he learnt from his is that he can win matches from any situation by believing in himself. He also added that a player has to just believe in practice and hard work.
“I haven’t interacted much with Mahi bhai but one thing I have learnt from him is that you can win from any situation, you just have to believe in yourself. Just believe in practice, just believe in the hard work, just don’t give it away,” Shubman Gill told The Indian Express.
Dhoni will be next seen in action in the IPL 2020. He had announced his retirement from international cricket on the Independence Day. Dhoni had begun preparations for IPL 2020 in a month advance. However, the novel coronavirus pandemic situation, disrupted the scenes with the IPL 2020 now set to get underway in September in UAE.
All eyes will be on Dhoni as he will be making a comeback in competitive cricket after 2019 World Cup. At the quadrennial he had come under scrutiny for his poor strike rate.
All the success had made him one of the most influential person on the cricketing circuit but he was not the same when he was first introduced to the national team. Besides that, MS Dhoni has also been the go-to man for his teammates whenever he was on the field.
Dhoni understood the game well. He knew the strength of the side and backs his players accordingly. He did not takes any kind of frivolous decisions and likes to maintain his calm. It is due to these qualities Dhoni came up as one of the most calm and composed character on the cricket field.
