The speculation over former India skipper MS Dhoni’s retirement from international cricket is on an all-time high. However, the cricketer has not spoken on the same and has enjoyed his time away from cricket. While many have voiced that cricketer is the right person to decide on his future, India head coach Ravi Shastri also spoke on the same lines.

Dhoni has been on a break since India’s ouster from the ICC World Cup 2019. He has been spending some quality time away from cricket. MS Dhoni served in the Indian army for a few days in August before moving to America to take a part in amateur golf championship.

The illustrated cricketer was recently seen playing football in a charity game in Mumbai alongside Leander Peas. While the speculation continues, head coach Ravi Shastri has hailed him as one of the greatest cricketers India have ever had.

“He will go down as one of our greatest players, very, very high up the list,” Shastri told Hindu.

Talking about MS Dhoni’s retirement plans, Ravi Shastri clearly stated that he has not met the cricketer after the World Cup and has no idea of the same. Shastri also added that Dhoni is the right person to take a call on his career. Shastri also didn’t rule out his return to the Indian team.

“Whether he wants to come back, that’s for him to decide. I have not met him after the World Cup. He has to first start playing and let’s see how things go,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, recent reports suggest that MS Dhoni will be with the team till 2020 World T20 to ensure that the team is in safe hands. Rishabh Pant has failed to live up to the expectations in the absence of Dhoni. India will have to dig harder to find a replacement of the legendary cricketer.
