The recent Supreme Court judgement is unlikely to disturb the MSK Prasad-led selection committee, and the selectors are all set to continue till the elections of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Meanwhile, as per reports in Bangalore Mirror, if there is a need, two more selectors will join in along with the current trio. Recent, the Supreme Court restored the five-member panel for senior, junior and women’s teams.

Moreover, Dipak Mishra-led bench has also changed the criteria for appointing the selectors. Furthermore, there were reports that CoA will replace the MSK Prasad-led selection panel, who will decide on the board in consultation with the Cricket Advisory Committee.

However, as per reports in Mirror, there will be no immediate change. If need, CoA may consult the CAC to add a couple of more selectors to the existing panel of three. A meeting of CoA will be on August 20 or 21 where they will decide on it.

A couple of selectors, Gagan Khoda and Jatin Paranjpe, are already on the sidelines. They had to sit out because of previous criteria which allowed only Test cricketers to be the selectors.

The meeting will decide on the new constitution

The conference, however, will have a more serious business of finalising the constitution of the BCCI. Following this, it will be sent to the registrar of Tamil Nadu Societies.

The judgement is based on Article 142 which empowers the court to register the constitution of a private body. CoA requested the same in its previous status reports.

After the registration, the states will have to register their constitutions and hold elections following which the election to the BCCI will be held. The process may take close to three months.
