Afghanistan’s spin sensation Mujeeb ur Rahman has climbed two spots to no 3 in the latest MRF Tyres ICC ODI Rankings for bowlers. Although West Indies inflicted a whitewash over the Afghans, Mujeeb impressed with his off-spin at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

The 18-year-old spinner, who returned with five wickets from three matches jumped to spots to sit at the third place. Mujeeb ur Rahman leapfrogged South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada and Australia’s Pat Cummins in the latest rankings. Rabada and Cummins train Mujeeb, who has 707 points to his name by 13 and 14 points respectively.
West Indies produced a completely different performance under their new leader Kieron Pollard. They completely outplayed Afghanistan in their revamped home ground. But Mujeeb has held his ground and showcased his talents with the ball.

He has been economical in the all three matches and controlled the middle overs. He backed his two wickets from the first game with one in the second and another two in the third to return with five scalps. Mujeeb ur Rahman now sits below India’s Jasprit Bumrah and New Zealand’s Trent Boult in the list.
Bumrah continues to occupy the top spot in the ODI Rankings. He has been spectacular with the ball since his debut and Boult has also looked in good rhythm in recent time; thus sitting well ahead of his contemporaries.
