Rohit Sharma has been Mumbai Indians’ backbone ever since the IPL franchise spent a staggering US$2 million to secure his services from Deccan Chargers in the 2011 season. Since then, he has been Mumbai Indians batting mainstay and has changed the fortunes of the team. A couple of years after joining the team, he was handed the captaincy in 2013 and there has been no looking back since then.

Mumbai Indians won the IPL title for the first time, under his captaincy. In the same year, he had led Mumbai to an unprecedented second Champions League T20 title. In 2015, he led Mumbai Indians to win the IPL title yet again by beating Chennai Super Kings and won the Man of The Match award in the finals. In 2017, the Mumbai Indians finished at the top of the table and also went on to win the final under his captaincy. He became the first captain to win the IPL title thrice and the first player to win it four times.

“@ImRo45, we’ve got someone who has bettered your 264. Rizvi Springfield’s Abhinav Singh struck 265 in his side’s win on Day 1 of the MI Inter-School Cricket Tournament.”

Through the tweet, Mumbai Indians had cheekily compared Rohit’s monumental knock of 246 against Sri Lanka in 2014 with that of the youngster’s.

Rohit, meanwhile, will be looking to guide Mumbai Indians to another good season after a forgettable 2018. Mumbai Indians had made a slow start to their season and finished at fifth. Rohit himself had a poor 2018 where he scored 286 runs in 14 innings.
