Social media has bridged the gap between the players and their fans. The advent of platform like Twitter has brought the fans closer to their beloved cricketers more than ever. But sometimes, it leads to unpleasant situation and recently former India spin bowler Murali Kartik faced a similar situation on Twitter.

On Sunday, the fans were lashing out at another ex-cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar after his on-air spat with fellow commentator Harsha Bhogle. Manjrekar had taken a jibe at Bhogle after the latter suggested that asking the players about the pink ball will be the best as the two were discussing about the much-talked about pink during the historic day-night Test between India and Bangladesh.

Manjrekar was not at all impressed with Bhogle’s views and said: “You need to ask perhaps, for us, those who have played the game, we have a fair idea of what’s happening out there.”

And amidst all these, one of the fans took at shot at Murali Kartik too. Re-tweeting a message where another user asked BCCI president Sourav Ganguly to sack Manjrekar, the fan asked the former India skipper to sack Murali Kartik too, writing:

“Plead dada @SGanguly99 to add @kartikmurali to the list too. Absolutely pathetic

Well, Murali Kartik noticed the tweet and did not stop himself from replying to it. The ex-India cricketer came up with a brilliant response, writing:

India thrash Bangladesh:

Talking about the match, India thrashed Bangladesh by an innings and 46 runs to sweep the two-match series. It took the hosts just over two days to see off the struggling visitors. Bangladesh played the catch up game right from the start as they were all out for just 106 in the first innings. India, in reply, scored 347 for 9 (declared) before restricting the tourists to 195.
