India’s flamboyant opener Murali Vijay is confident of returning back to the Indian team. Vijay was dropped from the Indian squad after the first two Test matches against England. He could not find his place in the third Test match at Trent Bridge. Subsequently, he was eventually ousted from the squad for the final two Test matches. Vijay had only scored 26 runs in the first two matches and had to pay the price.

However, Vijay was able to get back into form while playing in the English conditions for Essex in County cricket. The stylish right-hander had scored a fine fifty in his first innings. Furthermore, Vijay went on to score a hundred in the second innings to take his team over the line.

Thus, Vijay was able to get back into form. However, he was not able to make the cut into the squad for the series against Windies. Thus, his selection for the Australian hangs by a thin thread.

Vijay cherished the experience of playing in County Cricket for Essex. “It was a great experience to go back and play in England and perform well, contributing to the team’s cause. I have great memories.”

“Yes, of course, I am confident. We play cricket for that. I never thought I would play for India when I was young. I gained confidence over a period of time and never looked back from there. There were a lot of ups and down and that’s the way it goes. I am now looking forward to the new road ahead and hopefully, I can ride it the way I want to ride it.”

On the other hand, Murali Vijay doesn’t want to rue the missed chances. He said he cannot change the past as he cannot help it. Consequently, he is looking forward to his opportunity for Tamil Nadu.

“What has happened has happened. Now one needs to have the mindset to go and grind it again and enjoy cricket. I have a lot of things to give back to my team and hopefully, I can put TN in a good state this year and am going to focus on that aspect.”

Murali Vijay was the third highest run-getter on the 2014 Australian tour as he had scored 482 runs at a healthy average of 60.25. Thus, Vijay will like to get back into the side for the Australian tour.
