Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim, after avoiding a defeat in the opening Test match at Chittagong against Sri Lanka, had to urgently fly back to Dhaka for the birth of his baby boy.
Both mother, Jannat Kefayat Mondy, and son are doing well physically as of now.
The news of the birth was confirmed by Rahim’s father Mahmub Habib Tara who took to his Facebook account to deliver the good news. It is understood that Rahim and his better half went to Thailand to seek medical attention. The news of the pregnancy arrived then.
Before the start of the two-match Test series, Mushfiqur requested for leave to attend his wife. However, his request was rejected by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) due to the injury sustained to their quintessential all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.

“Monday or Tuesday is the arrival day of the new member of Mushfiq’s family. He left for Dhaka after the end of the match today (Sunday). He will be with his wife during giving his wife birth,” confirmed Khaled Mahmud Sujan according to BD Crictime.
Rahim was involved in Bangladesh putting up a mammoth total of 513 in front of the Lankans in the first inning where he amassed 94 runs. The Lankans came back to post a monumental reply of 713-9 dec. to put the Tigers in the cage, thanks to massive contributions from young Kusal Mendis, Dhananjaya de Silva and rookie Roshen Silva, who scored their respective tons.
After the end of Day 4 of the Test match, the hosts were under immense pressure, as they were reduced to 81-3, trailing by 200 runs. Niroshan Dickwella claimed negative approach by Mushfiqur Rahim in the second inning, led to his downfall.
That said, Bangladesh in the form of Mominul Haque and Liton Das displayed tremendous resolute to avoid a collapse and salvage a draw while facing the likes of Rangana Herath on a fifth-day pitch. In the end, 1533 runs were scored during the Test match without a result in the end.
