Pakistan has always been a country that has produced quality fast bowlers without the shadow of any doubt. The young pace bowling sensation Naseem Shah became the latest talent who caught everyone’s attention when he irked Australian batsmen with his deadly spell in the pink-ball tour match against Australia A.

Naseem put on a stellar bowling performance at the Perth Stadium, removing Marcus Harris with a bouncer that caught the southpaw’s edge. He made his Test debut against Australia in Brisbane and bowled 20 overs. He bowled superbly once again and took the prized scalp of David Warner with a phenomenal bouncer.

Naseem Shah youngest fast bowler to claim 5-wicket haul in Tests

In the latest development, Pakistan’s fast bowler Naseem Shah scripted history in the cricketing globe as he became the youngest fast bowler to take a five-wicket haul in an innings of a Test. Shah, aged 16 years and 311 days, went past his countryman Mohammad Amir to become the youngest ever fast bowler.

It should be noted that Mohammad Amir bagged a five-wicket haul against Australia at the age of 17 years 257 days in the year 2009 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Shah dismantled Sri Lanka batting line-up as he dismissed Kusal Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal, Dilruwan Perera, Lasith Embduldeniya and Vishwa Fernando to eventually end up with impressive bowling figures of 5/31 in 12.5 overs.

However, the young prospect had missed by few days to become the overall youngest ever bowler to claim 5 wickets in an innings of a Test. It is worth mentioning here that Pakistan’s spinner Naseem-ul-Ghani still holds the distinction of taking five wickets in an innings against West Indies in 1957/58 at the age of 16 years and 308 days.

Naseem Shah’s ruthless bowling spell helped Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 263 runs in the second and final Test in Karachi on Monday, taking 1-0 lead in the series. Pakistan set a target of 476 but the visitors were bowled out for 212 in their second innings as the hosts won the game by 263 runs.
