Nasser Hussain Takes A Dig At Sourav Ganguly As Ex-India Captain Tweets About His Visit To Lord's

Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly, on Monday, visited Lord’s – the ground which holds a very special place in his life. This was the very ground where the legendary skipper enjoyed some of the most iconic moments of his illustrious career.

Lord’s was the ground where he marked his arrival at the grandest stage of the game.  Ganguly played his first-ever Test at Lord’s and made it memorable by scoring a ton. Coming at number three against Mike Atherton-led England, Ganguly scored 131 with the help of 20 boundaries.

And six years later, the ground witnessed yet another iconic moment that perhaps showed the world Indians are not afraid of playing overseas. After India had beaten England in the final of the NatWest Series, Ganguly had famously waved his shirt on the Lord’s balcony.

Set 326 to win, India had squandered good start to limp to 146/5. Yuvraj Singh (69) and Mohammad Kaif (87*) added 121 for the 6th wicket to bring them back into the match. Kaif was still there at the end as Zaheer Khan squeezed out the winning runs with 3 balls and 2 wickets to spare and that sent both fans and players into a frenzy.

And while the players made sure to keep their emotions under check while celebrating the historic win, Ganguly did not. The Prince of Calcutta did the unthinkable by taking off his jersey and started waving it over his head at a ground which is called the home of cricket.

And when Ganguly visited the ground on Saturday, he made sure to let his fans know about it. Currently in England as commentator for the ongoing series between the hosts and India, Ganguly took to Twitter to share a picture of himself standing on the famous balcony, writing:

“Back at lords ..this is where career started ..”

And as soon as Ganguly tweeted about his visit to Lord’s, former England skipper Nasser Hussain took a sarcastic dig at him. Hussain, who was the captain during that famous NatWest series game, replied:

“You’re on that balcony again … nice to see you with your shirt on !!”

An avid cricket lover, I just love this game more than anything. Writing about cricket keeps me closer to the game.
