Winning the ICC World Cup as a skipper way back in 1992 to winning the general elections in 2018 in a bid to become 19th Prime Minister of Pakistan, the story of Pakistan’s Imran Khan is quite an inspiration for the professionals. Meanwhile, the former Indian cricketer, Navjot Singh Sidhu is all set to attend the oath ceremony event.
The Indian government has approved the visa of Navjot. The approval will see the former Punjab cricketer visiting Islamabad to be present at the event when Imran takes his oath as the PM.
Clarification over Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar:
Meanwhile, the other former legendary cricketers of India, Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev have turned down the invitation from Imran on his swearing-in ceremony.
According to the Geo Tv news that Sidhu told Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Faisal Javed to inform him about the Visa clearance. With an Indian cricketer attending the event, the security system will be doubled as well.
Speaking of Imran designation as a Prime Minister, Navjot Singh Sidhu added that the former Pakistan player is a gem of the character. He added that the sportsperson could unite people under one roof.
“It is (a) great honour, I accept the invitation. Men of genius are admired, men of power are feared, but men of character are trusted. Khan Sahab is a man of character. He can be trusted. Sportsmen build bridges, break barriers, unite people,” said the 54-year-old Congress MLA from Amritsar East.
Imran Khan to take Oath on August 18th, Navjot Singh Sidhu to visit the country:
The Swearing ceremony will take place on August 18th at President’s house in Islamabad. Also, it seems like only Navjot Singh Sidhu is the only Indian attending the event.
Meanwhile, Sunil Gavaskar is busy with his stint as a commentator at England. However, the former legendary Indian extended his wishes and thankfulness to Imran for calling him to the ceremony.
