Former India batsman Navjot Singh Sidhu has taken a sly dig at BJP as he continues to remain in the limelight for all the wrong reasons in the wake of the Pulwama terrorist attack. On Thursday, a suicide bomber from the Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a CRPF bus in Pulwama district, killing at least 40 personnel and leaving many critically wounded.

The bus was on the Srinagar-Jammu highway in Lethpora town, about 30 km from Srinagar when the attack took place. The entire nation is in a state of shock as well as furious following the gruesome attack. The whole of India is condemning the attack and paying tribute to the fallen brave souls. The government of India has also taken some big steps in a protest to the attack.  On Saturday, the government hiked the customs duty on all goods imported from Pakistan to 200% with immediate effect, a day after it revoked the most favoured nation (MFN) status that it had given its neighbour in 1996.

But amidst all this, Navjot Singh Sidhu risked the ire of the Indian public by giving out a diplomatic statement. While the whole nation is calling for complete boycott of Pakistan, the cricketer-turned-politician had said ‘terrorists do not have deen, mazhab (sect and religion)’ before stating that one couldn’t blame an entire nation for such attacks.

He also called for a dialogue to find a permanent solution to end the bloodshed. Since his statement, Sidhu has received widespread criticism and has been reportedly sacked from The Kapil Sharma Show.

Sidhu has now risked the ire of the public again after taking a dig at the central government with a cheeky tweet. It all began when journalist Rajat Sharma posted a teaser of his famous show Aap ki Adalat featuring Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. In the video, Nirmala Sitharaman was heard taking a dig at Sidhu for the latter’s decision to attend Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s swearing in ceremony last year.

“Navjot Sidhu @sherryontopp is famous in India. उनकी बहुत following है. वो जाकर गले लगा रहे हैं हमारे दुश्मन के Army Chief को. Impact आएगा कि नहीं आएगा ?” – Defence Minister @nsitharaman in #AapKiAdalat “

Sidhu, however, was not ready to give up as he posted a collage of photos showing cabinet ministers hugging and greeting former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

“Iska impact ayega ki nahi?,” wrote Sidhu.
