New T10 League To Be Telecast Live As Cricket Resumes In The UAE

Even if the United Arab Emirates (UAE) might not host the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), it will witness the return of cricket quite soon. The new T10 league is all set to commence on the 24th of July, the first since the lockdown imposed due to Coronavirus. The UAE also remains in discussion to stage the 2020 edition of IPL.

The organisers of the first domestic T10 league or the Emirates D10 league hope for a total of ten million viewers to tune in to live telecasts of the new tournament. Although individual councils have streamed the competitions in the past, it would be the inaugural occasion that the game’s governing body has aired one of their own domestic events.

The T10 tournament features five teams, representing the country’s respective cricket councils. The competition will last until the 7th of August with 34 matches as the organisers hope that the tournament reaches far and wide. One of the teams will be the Emirates Blues select XI, which would comprise many UAE team regulars, captained by Ahmed Raza, who is the national team captain.

I am hoping for “one-third of the viewership of a usual cricket tournament in this region,” which he equates to “two to two and a half million views. For the past three months there has been a lack of live cricket globally, with England and West Indies just starting their [series] a few days back,” Chandra stated as quoted by The
