New Zealand have made a great start to the series uprooting England by an innings and 76 runs in the first Test at the Bay Oval. As they move forward to the second game of the series, the Kiwis have received significant jolts in the last few days. After Jofra Archer’s startling claims of racial abuse from the stands during the first Test, the host will now miss two of the star player in the second match.

The Blacks Caps banked on great showdown from BJ Watling and Mitchell Santner to put up a pile of runs on England after knocking them out for a low total in the first innings. While at one stage it looked like the match will end in a draw, New Zealand fast bowler brought their ‘A’ game into place with Niel Wagner doing the bulk of the job to blow out the visitors as they took a crucial 1-0 lead although this series is not a part of the ICC World Test Championship.

New Zealand suffer major blows

However, the home side will miss two key cricketers in the form of Trent Boult and Colin de Grandhomme owing to injuries in the next game. Boult suffered a rib strain during the first Test as he bowled only one over in the second innings before leaving the field while de Grandhomme strained an abdominal muscle and wasn’t able to bowl after lunch on the final day. However, both of them are likely to be fit ahead of the first Test against Australia starting in Perth on December 12.

All-rounder Daryll Mitchell and fast bowler Lockie Ferguson have joined the side as replacements. Both of them are lined-up for their debut if they are picked ahead of the incumbent players in the squad. The second Test of the series will commence from November 29 in Hamilton.
