New Zealand fast bowlers Seth Rance recently took his black cap off to don a fire helmet when a pub’s roof in the town caught fire. Meanwhile, a fire broke out at the iconic White Swan pub in Wairarapa.
Further, apart from playing cricket for New Zealand is a station officer at the Greytown Fire Brigade station. Rance soon arrived with his men after a fire broke out near a chimney at the rear end of the White Swan. As many as eight fire engines rushed to the spot to quench the flames. Also, it threatened to engulf the entire building where the pub was located.
Rance plays for Central Districts in the domestic cricket. Meanwhile, he was the joint highest wicket-taker n the 2016–17 McDonald’s Super Smash.
Hotel staff alerted early:
Following his noble act, Rance credited the staff for calling the fire station early to prevent further damage.
“The origin of the fire was in the southern end of the building. There’s a little bit of structural and water damage, but it appears to have been caught in time. It’s fortunate we got the call nice and early,” Rance said to Cricinfo.
Meanwhile, Rance made his debut for New Zealand in 2017 and had represented his national team in 2 ODIs and 4 T20Is. He made his T20 debut last year in December and played two T20Is against Pakistan this year. Also, Rance had a successful outing in one of the fixtures at Wellington where he claimed 3/26.
